Radiation Oncology
 

Alfred Rosenbaum, M.D. is in charge of radiation oncology at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care. He also has private practices in Manhattan.
Dr. Rosenbaum is an attending physician and assistant clinical professor in radiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and consultant-in-charge of brachytherapy at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Rosenbaum earned his medical degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Munich, Germany, in 1966. He interned at University Hospital in Munich and Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. His radiology residencies were done at Mount Sinai Hospital. He also earned a fellowship from Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, NY. He is certified by the American Board of Radiology.
Dr. Rosenbaum has authored dozens of professional articles, co-authored several books and presented multiple papers at national and international conferences.

 

Lucia Boselli, M.D. is a consulting physician at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care. Dr. Boselli earned her medical degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM), Bronx, NY. She specialized in internal medicine and radiation oncology at Montefiore Medical Center, which is part of AECOM.
She earned the American College of Radiation Oncology Howard H. Wong Fellowship Award for her fellowship in pediatric radiation oncology at St. Jude's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. During her training, she participated in bench research involving the metastatic process in breast cancer and earned the Radiologic Society of North America Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award.
Dr. Boselli is a member of the American Medical Association, American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology and American College of Radiation Oncology.

 

Cheng-Shie Wuu, Ph.D a world renowned, medical physicist, is a consulting physicist to the Eastchester Center's board certified physicians. Dr. Wuu brings 18 years of clinical experience in cancer treatment through radiation therapy, and is currently a full professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology at a major university medical center.
   He is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and American Association of Physicists in Medicine College of Radiology, and American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
   Dr. Wuu earned his Ph.D. degree from the University of Kansas in Radiation Biophysics in 1985 and performed his residency training at Yale University in its Medical Physics Department of Therapeutic Radiology. He presently serves as the Director of Medical Physics in the Department of Radiation Oncology at a major university medical center in New York.

Surgery
 

Nella Irene Shapiro, M.D. is the director of breast surgery at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care. She is assistant clinical professor in the combined departments of surgery at the Jack D. Weiler Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center. She has served as chief of general surgery at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center and associate director of surgery at the Jack D. Weiler Hospital.
   A graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Shapiro interned and did her residency at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center, where she was the first woman to complete the general surgery residency. She also introduced the technique of laparoscopic cholecystectomy at the Jack D. Weiler Hospital. She is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

 

Gabriel Kaufman, Dr. Gabriel J. Kaufman, Oncoplastic Surgery Breast Cancer Specialist for the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care is a board certified surgeon specializing in breast cancer surgery. Dr. Kaufman completed his residency training in both general surgery as well as a breast cancer surgical fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He has also recently completed an advanced fellowship in the new field of Oncoplastic surgery. Oncoplastic surgery offers patients with breast cancer improved breast conservation outcomes. His special interest is treating patients with breast cancer while utilizing advanced surgical techniques to obtain the best oncologic and aesthetic results. In addition to the treatment of cancer, his office also specializes in the treatment of benign breast disease.

Medical Oncology
 

Anthony Hoffman, M.D. is an attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
   Dr. Hoffman is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology. He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Internal Medicine and American Society of Breast Disease. Dr. Hoffman earned his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine, Washington, D.C., in 1989. He did his internal medicine residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his medical oncology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
   He has a research background in molecular virology and co-discovered the HIV virus with Dr. Jay Levy of University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Hoffman also worked on the retinoic acid glue role in carcinogenesis at Memorial Sloan-Kettering.

 

Fabio Volterra, M.D. is a consulting physician at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care. Dr. Volterra serves as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, Italian Medical Society, American Medical Society, American Society of Internal Medicine, American Society of Breast Disease and American Society of Hematology.
He earned his medical degree, summa cum laude, in 1983 from Universita'Degli Studi La Sapienza, Italy. He is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology and hematology.

 

Avi Retter, M.D. is a consulting physician at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care in the Bronx. He is an accomplished oncologist and hematologist with numerous publications, his most recent regarding his work with prostate cancer and antiangiogenesis.
   Dr. Retter brings his clinical research expertise to expand Eastchester Center for Cancer Care's clinical research infrastructure. Dr. Retter earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1999 and performed his residency training at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and completed a combined Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD.

 

Karen Hoffman, MD, Director of Clinical Trials Dr. Karen Hoffman is director of clinical trials and laboratory director at the Eastchester Center for Cancer Care. She is Board Certified in Anatomic Pathology and a fellow of the College of American Pathologists as well as a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates. She earned her medical degree from the George Washington University Medical School in 1989. She did her residency in pathology and fellowship in gynecological pathology at the Mount Sinai Hosptial in New York.
